In our research on traditional Chinese holidays, we’ve explored the fascinating differences between the Chinese New Year’s Eve and the Dragon Boat Festival. The New Year’s Eve, a 4000-year-old festival, marks the start of a new year with red envelopes, paper cutouts, and reunion dinners. The Dragon Boat Festival, originating 2000 years ago, honors the poet Qu Yuan through dragon boat races. Both hold deep cultural significance: one emphasizing family unity, the other summer’s arrival and the fight against evil. For our next phase, we aim to further understand these holidays’ rich traditions and share them with our peers.
